I bought the book last Saturday when I had this mass people phobia complex when I was actually half an hour early for my lecture and it was filled up with unknown faces *the fear*. My mum called me nuts, I just think myself as a really complex person, oh well irregardless the outcome of my fear was fruitful and managed to reduce my wallet to dust particles.
Purchased my subscription mags. I am proud of myself that I am no longer buying all 5 JE mags. I kicked out two! Now contemplating to actually kick out Myojo for the fact is expensive or I could ask for it to be sea shipment instead. I will try but if its still expensive, I might cancel it and go back to poporo. The only thing going for poporo is that they do have awesome pictures. Duet is garbage and it will forever will be.
Anyways I bought among others, Neil Gaiman's latest book 'The Graveyard Book'. I must say Neil Gaiman has cemented himself as one of my favourite writers EVER, next to Harper Lee, Agatha Christie, William Golding, Emily Bronte, J.R.R Tolkien and Jonathan Stroud. Another author Chris Priestley is pretty good at weaving haunting plots, simplistic but gripping and I recommend anyones that likes chills to read Uncle Montague's Tales of Terror. Its an excellent book to read to scare a child and I shall keep it as a book to read to my nephews and nieces. Alas I have no hope of his mother ever telling him tales of the macabre, so I should take it upon myself to at least enlightened his mind. It would be horrific for a boy not to know the joys of reading. Maybe when he is a bit older get his mother to let me babysit him *laughs*
Okay superly sidetracked back to The Graveyard Book. This was magnificently written by Neil Gaiman, I love this awesome idea of a boy being adopted by ghosts and raised in a graveyard with the protection of an undead guardian looking out for him with the occasional help from a werewolf. He spun a pretty interesting point of view regarding werewolves as hounds of gods, being grateful to the creator for giving them a special ability. I really like that idea about werewolves its fresh and interesting and I love Silas (the Vampire). Neil Gaiman wrote him in such a way, that I imagined Silas to be Count Dracula himself. Ah words coming out of my head cannot do justice to this book, I just love the idea of ghost not being evil or malignant but having a character of their own, loving and caring for Bod and being his friend in need. Its such a good book I dont want it to end, I want it to continue, I WANT A SEQUEL.
Two books of Neil Gaiman's where I badly want it to be a trilogy; Neverwhere and The Graveyard Book. What was exciting to read at the end in Neil Gaiman's acknowledgement, someone handled the movie rights to The Graveyard Book. YIPPIE!! All I ask for, is that it should not be ANIMATED please unless its Tim Burton and he directs it as per The Corpse Bride. With Johnny Depp as Silas, yes! yes!
LOL I see Johnny Depp in most Neil Gaiman's work its ridiculous. Marquis de Carabas should be Johnny Depp. It screams a personality/character invention by Johnny and so should be Silas in the manner of animation of course. If The Graveyard book was to be made into live action movie than no Silas should not be played by Johnny Depp but by some other actor who could carry a vampire and NO! NOT ROBERT PATTINSON for the love of all that is good.
